This challenging piece tugged at my heartstrings. Not only should I think about my ride or dies, but also whose ride or die am I. A little teary at the moment. Thanks again, Vanessa

We know the opposition without having to name them. They will try to marginalize all communities not like them. They want a white, straight, male oligarchy which controls all art, all creativity, all speech. And they’re counting on all of us to stay silent. Whether because of fear or uncertainty… they rely on our silence and they rely on our communities staying separate, distinct, fighting with each other.

Vanessa’s column is timely and needed. Don’t let people in power silence you. Don’t let fear silence you. Reach out to other communities being marginalized - our strength is in numbers and in banding together. To use a phrase the Washington Post used to use (before being compromised by Bezos), democracy dies in darkness. And darkness is exactly what is being forced on us right now.

Thank you. I needed this. It's so hard to be an artist. It's always great to be reminded of the power of having each other's backs!
